memorably Christmas has shown up at the Amtrak Station in LaPlata, Missouri. We continued the new tradition of having a decorating day where anyone can come and help us “Deck the Halls” We had folks from Tennessee, Kansas, Illinois and the local area there for the fun. After we worked through some issues of rope lights that work when tested and then don’t work when put to real use, the outside part went pretty quickly. The inside was started by shaping the trees and then after Theda (Gem Lady) put on the first ornament it was go time. We also invite any passenger that is in the station to help if they want to. There was a Mennonite family there. Their kids had so much fun with us. This year there was some new decor. One was the flickering LED candles in the windows and the other is the three elves. Their names are Amy, Bob and Robert. As most of you know that is the caretakers at the station.
There was also some wonderful snacks for all to enjoy as the night went on. We put a tree in the office and leave the windows open for the train crews to see as they pass by. We also have a tree in the lobby for the passengers to enjoy and arrange the benches so they can sit around the tree.
A super fun evening and yes we watched trains too!! Merry Christmas to everyone from the APRHF!!
